Toni Carter
Spanish Specialist
I was born in Mexico and had the unique opportunity to grow up immersed in a variety of cultures. I attended a boarding school in Panama run by Italian nuns, completed secondary school in Pamplona, Colombia, and continued my studies in Venezuela and Costa Rica. My journey then brought me to the United States, where I pursued college and studied English.
Throughout my career, I have shared my passion for the Spanish language in many educational settings, including Bellevue Community College, PACCAR International, Bennett Elementary, and currently, Bellevue Montessori School. Teaching Spanish brings me joy every day—it makes me smile and fills me with happiness to share my language and culture with others.
In addition to teaching, I am also a children’s book author. I have written four bilingual titles: Antonieta cuenta su historia (Antonieta Tells Her Story), Antonieta en Panamá, Por Tren a Cartagena, and Chepito. My husband collaborated with me as the illustrator for the last three books, making the creative process even more special.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy walking my dogs rain or shine, dancing, and listening to music.
These simple joys keep my spirit energized and connected to the rhythm of life.
